Introducing NARO: A Modern Korean Culinary Experience
Nestled beneath the bustling ice rink at Rockefeller Center, NARO stands out as a beacon of contemporary Korean cuisine. This upmarket establishment, the sister restaurant to acclaimed Atomix and Atoboy, seamlessly marries bold flavors with elegant presentation, offering diners a uniquely delightful experience in the heart of New York City.
Location and Ambiance:
NARO caters to a variety of preferences and needs with its extensive utilities, including the ability to reserve tables, convenient delivery and takeout options, and a robust menu that features pescatarian choices. The establishment even accommodates modern payment methods, from credit cards to cryptocurrency, making your experience as seamless as the dishes are delicious.
Signature Dishes:
Diners praise the innovative approach to traditional dishes; for instance, Christine L. described the raw scallop with persimmon as a favorite course for its sweet, delicate flavors. Her experience also highlighted the octopus juk's tender preparation, demonstrating NARO's commitment to quality.
Service and Atmosphere:
NARO's staff is noted for attentive and knowledgeable service, ensuring that guests feel welcomed and informed about menu offerings. While the atmosphere buzzes with a mix of city energy and intimate dining, diners can relish their meals paired with exceptional cocktails and refreshing mocktails, enhancing their culinary journey.
However, some guests have remarked on the portion sizes of the prix fixe menu, noting that while the food is undeniably exquisite, one might leave craving just a bit more. This has led to suggestions that NARO might be best enjoyed for a drinks and apps outing rather than a traditional full meal.
Why You Should Visit:
With a continuously evolving menu and a dedication to making every dish memorable, NARO emerges as a must-visit destination for those seeking modern Korean cuisine in a sophisticated setting. Whether you find yourself by the Rockefeller rink or just in search of an unforgettable meal, let NARO's blend of taste and style elevate your dining experience.

“ Delicious modern Korean food with good service in a quiet spot by Rockefeller rink! This place is the sister restaurant to Atomix/Atoboy, so I had pretty high expectations. Came here with my sister to try their 3 course prefixe (plus the supplement course) and this is everything we ate: Mung Bean Muk: delicious and refreshing! I love mung bean jelly. The flavor was familiar but elevated. Potato Jeon: crispy and tasty, but honestly pretty forgettable. Scallop: raw scallop with persimmon- delicious and the scallops were so sweet- my favorite course! Octopus Juk: this was good too, the octopus was really tender. Dry-Aged Duck: a delicious cut of duck from Long Island. I think I prefer the duck at atoboy though. The rice on the side was super flavorful and helpful for cutting through the fattiness of the duck Black Bass: gorgeous presentation, taste was okay. Creme Brûlée: so beautiful! Had parsnips and persimmons and tasted like fall. Persimmon Pavlova: also so gorgeous! I love all the persimmons on top. I also got the Earl Grey Cha Cha drink- which was honestly fine, more lemony than earl grey flavor. Service was attentive, you could tell they really were trying. Unfortunately they mixed up a couple of my sister and I's courses, and also forgot some of the descriptions. The location is also interesting, it's right by the rink, so very loud and noisy outside, but super quiet inside. I think this place is fairly new though, so I'd be willing to give them another try. ”
“ Came in at 2:30pm for a restaurant week lunch reservation and I knew that the place closed between lunch and dinner but they did allow the 2:30pm reservation. The snow crab dish was amazing, especially in the pine nut sauce. The sticky toffee dessert was ok but looked beautiful, not much in terms of flavor or texture. It was served with our lunch because of the timing. My mocktail was delicious. The salmon rice was a hit at our table with the crunchy quinoa and the kimchi rice was also nice. The green tea ice cream with the rice puffs was also amazing and delicious. Earthy and sweet and crunchy. The staff was very kind but we had 3-4 different people switching in to take our order and finalize payment. Restaurant week is always tough. Would love to come back for the tasting menu. ”
“ Checked this place out for restaurant week with a friend and it did not disappoint! It is located below the Rockefeller ice rink level and the interior of the restaurant is gorgeous. All the food was prepared with perfection, especially the dessert, which was almost too pretty to eat. Service was great and our server was very knowledgeable of the food and cocktail (offering good recommendation). Definitely recommend and will most likely come back for date night :) ”
“ Some of the best service and ambiance I have ever experienced in my entire life. The food was also delicious. HOWEVER, the portions for the prix fix menu are MICROSCOPIC. We left there HUNGRY lol!!! And also there is a TON of hype. They had some fancy name and description for the potatoe appetizer. It was a friggin HASH BROWN LOLOL!!! A delicious hash brown. And delicious food. Just soooooo little of it!!! But honestly this place is great for drinks and apps. Their entire menu is basically just all apps (based on the sizes of the portions). The atmosphere and service make this place special. ”
